Psychiatric Care in Memphis, Tennessee
Our comprehensive psychiatric care services are designed to support you on your mental health journey. From initial diagnostic evaluations to medication management and specialized testing, we provide personalized care tailored to your unique needs.
Whether you're seeking a second opinion or require higher levels of care during a crisis, our team is here to guide you with compassion and expertise.
Duration: 30-60 minutes
What to Expect: During this evaluation, we will discuss the reason for seeking care, inquire about your current social circumstances and family relationships, review your current and past use of alcohol and other substances, explore your past treatment history and diagnoses, assess your current and past medications, and delve into your detailed medical and psychiatric history.
Duration: 15-20 minutes
What it Involves: These visits focus on discussing recent symptoms, medication side effects, progress, and any updates on your mental health. While not for psychotherapy, certain cases may involve therapeutic interventions to address psychosocial stressors. Medication adjustments can be made as needed.
Recommended for: Patients experiencing ongoing psychiatric symptoms despite prior care.
Process: Similar to the initial evaluation, this appointment allows for a thorough review of your case and may lead to alternative treatment approaches. Inform us about your interest in a second opinion during your intake.
Recommended for: Adult patients facing psychiatric crises.
Definition: A psychiatric crisis involves actions, feelings, or behaviors that can lead to self-harm or harm to others, or hinder one's ability to care for oneself or function in the community.
Mental Health Conditions
A mental illness is a condition that affects a person’s thinking, feeling or mood. Such conditions may affect someone’s ability to relate to others and function each day. Each person will have different experiences, even people with the same diagnosis.
Recovery, including meaningful roles in social life, school and work, is possible, especially when you start treatment early and play a strong role in your own recovery process.
A mental health condition isn’t the result of one event. Research suggests multiple overlapping causes. Genetics, environment and lifestyle influence whether someone develops a mental health condition. A stressful job or home life makes some people more susceptible, as do traumatic life events like being the victim of a crime. Biochemical processes and circuits and basic brain structure may play a role, too.
